Australia Road Trip 2023

by Christophe L.

We arrived in Darwin on July 7th to meet Sebastien, who was waiting for us at the airport!

Thank you, Sebastien, for these incredible moments and discoveries... The sunsets in Darwin with your local friends you wanted to introduce us to, the visit to the city, the Aboriginal sites and paintings perfect for meditation in Kakadu, the deep gorges of Katherine by kayak, the warm waters of Mataranka, the unforgettable Devils Marbles, Alice Springs with its Didgeridoos, the unforgettable evening by the fire at Ooramina with Crocodile Man, Glen Helen and its large ochre walls, the Stanley Chasm, the luminous and exclusive night, and the visit to Kings Canyon, our 150 km journey on the Mereenie Loop to Uluru. Uluru, in the heart of the red center, forever in our hearts...

Then it was Mount Olga, Coober Pedy, the land of opals, Mad Max, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, with its underground houses, vast plains along the Oodnadatta track to the mythical Williams Creek and its incredible Salt Lake, Lake Eyre, the largest lake in Australia, to the Flinders Ranges, rich in kangaroos and emus, and finally the Bunyeroo Gorges, where we could test the Defender's 4x4 capabilities. And to end it all, Clare Valley, with endless crops, sheep, and vineyards...

What a pleasure to see your amazement at every beautiful viewpoint, every illuminated rock, or any being that sparked your admiration and respect. We were able to experience your country, your passion, and still have the opportunity to travel thousands of kilometers on tracks in a country with untouched and sparsely populated landscapes, closer to nature and entirely safe. I don't have enough superlatives to express my feelings about the diversity of landscapes, the kindness, and the benevolence of the people. But this journey didn't just bring me beautiful landscapes; it made me grow, thanks to you. I also had very special moments with my wife and especially with my two daughters, who will inevitably cherish these memories for life...

This is the magic that a road trip in Australia creates - not just a journey of discovery, but also a means to strengthen family bonds and create lifelong memories…
